Description: Envy plays a central role in motivating CEOs, academicians etc.

"CEOs with obscene paypackets are unhappy until they have matched what is considered "normal" among other CEOs. Lawyers from modest beginnings, making more than a million dollars a year or more, can get depressed and resentful because they are not earning what investment bankers earn. The issue is not just about money, but many forms of the world's rewards and recognitions. Academics and other authors can be (and are) jealous the (non-monetary) respect and recognition that is accorded to their (perceived) competitors' work. Socially, in their personal lives, people are always playing the game of "keeping up with the Jones':" being content with what they've got, until their neighbor has more.We concluded from this research that among economics majors in the lab and hunter-gatherers in the forest, contributing to the success of a joint project for the benefit of one's group, even at a personal cost, evokes feelings of satisfaction and pride. Failing to do so is often a source of shame or guilt. Cooperation thus is sustained by altruistic motivations that induce people to help others when not helping would result in their having higher fitness or other material rewards."

Description: People measure their contentment by comparing themselves with others

"people compare themselves to others: in particular to compatriots of about the same age and social class. This 'social comparison' is seen to focus on observable and socially valued matters such as job prestige and the material level of living. The better off people perceive themselves to be relatively, the happier they feel."

Description: The danger of processed foods

"A seven-year study of close to 200,000 people by the University of Hawaii found that people who ate the most processed meats (hot dogs, sausage) had a 67 percent higher risk of pancreatic cancer than those who ate little or no meat products.A Canadian study of over 400 men aged 50 to 80 found similar results. Men whose eating habits fell into the "processed" pattern (processed meats, red meat, organ meats, refined grains, vegetable oils and soft drinks) had a significantly higher risk of prostate cancer than men in the other groups. Men who ate the most processed foods had a 2.5-fold increased prostate cancer risk. another study published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Mile Markers, and Prevention found that refined carbohydrates like white flour, sugar and high fructose corn syrup is also linked to cancer. The study of more than 1,800 women in Mexico found that those who got 57 percent or more of their total energy intake from refined carbohydrates had a 220 percent higher risk of breast cancer than women who ate more balanced diets."

Description: The dangers of genetically engineered foods

"Scientists have been and are currently introducing genetic material into organisms to alter, create and affect changes in living plants and animals. These radical changes scientists are developing create specific, desirable traits that might never evolve naturally and in my opinion are extremely dangerous.Genetically modified foods affect the human physiology. A study of people in the Philippines reported that their bodies developed antibodies to Bt toxin. What this means is that, the human body processed these engineered traits into their guts and reacted to them. These same consumers of the GMO corn in the Philippines also developed a resistance to the antibiotic ampicillin."

Description: Electromagnetic radiation exposure as an example for violating the subtle balance of nature

"It is a simple truth of life that all living things are connected to one another. While modern Man likes to think Himself separate from the environment and nature and not dependent upon it, the reality is, as John Donne penned, ‘no man is an island’. Our belief that we are separate from nature couldn’t be further from the truth. We are, in fact, an extension of nature and the creative living forces which shape the natural world we live in. Human beings, as one part of a dynamic living system, are interconnected with all other life on the planet and indeed with the planet itself. A powerful illustration of our connection with nature can be found in our dependence on the Earth’s natural electromagnetic environment. Not only is our physical and mental health dependent upon the natural frequencies of the Earth, it is part of the foundation upon which all life has evolved over the millennia.it has become paramount that we learn not only what type and how much of this harmful radiation we are being exposed to, but also the best and most effective measures to protect ourselves and our families. If we, and especially our children, are to stay healthy and be able to heal from illness in the midst of this ever-increasing radiation exposure, then we need to take action now to prevent what will become the health epidemic of the 21st century.
